Product Properties

White crystals. Heat sublimation. Nonflammable. Soluble in methanol, formaldehyde, acetic acid, hot ethylene glycol, glycerol, pyridine, insoluble in ether, benzene, carbon tetrachloride. It can decompose at high temperature to produce highly toxic cyanide gas.

Production Method

Melamine uses urea as raw material, ammonia gas as liquefied carrier gas, and silica gel as catalyst for gas-solid phase catalytic reaction. Semi-dry atmospheric pressure method is mostly used to synthesize melamine at 380-400 ℃, and make melamine in desublimator. After crystallization, the crude product is dissolved, filtered and crystallized to make the finished product, or it can be obtained by reacting dicyandiamide with ammonia in methanol solvent at 200℃.

The Main Purpose

Condensation polymerization with formaldehyde can produce melamine resin, which can be used in plastics and coating industries, and can also be used as anti-folding and anti-shrinking treatment agent for textiles. Its modified resin can be used as metal coating with bright color, durability and good hardness. It can also be used as a sturdy, heat-resistant decorative sheet, a tanning agent for moisture-proof paper and gray leather, an adhesive for synthetic fireproof laminates, a fixative or hardener for waterproofing agents, etc. 582 melamine resin made from melamine, formaldehyde and butanol as raw materials. It is used as a leveling agent for solvent-based polyurethane coatings with excellent results.

Melamine resin made by condensation polymerization with formaldehyde is widely used in the manufacture and processing of wooden building formwork. It can be used for the waterproofing of the formwork surface and the adhesion of the wood core board to increase the repeated use of the formwork.
