How To Make Paraffin Wax Treatment At Home

As we all know, the paraffin wax is our main material for candle.Maybe most of the people will think the candle making is difficult. And we can only make candles in large factories such as candle factories.

In fact, it is not only that, paraffin wax can not only be produced in factories, but also for those customers who have their own candle making hobbies or have special requirements. It is also a very good choice to make your own candles at home.

And making candles alone at home can better show your preferences and aesthetics. Factory uniform candles are produced by assembly line. Lack of uniqueness. Making it by yourself is more helpful to exercise your various abilities. Below I will introduce you to the main ways and methods of making candles at home alone.

paraffin wax

1.What products fo we need paraffin wax treatment at home?

The first is the main preparation product for making candles:column mold,Paraffin, double boiler,21 ml fragrance/essential oil of your choice 1 dye block or liquid dye in the color of your choice, stainless steel mixing spoon, glass thermometer,Edible oil,Die Wick Pin,small piece of Blu-tack.

2.How to do paraffin wax treatment at home?

After preparing the things, you can put them into the actual production. Next, I will introduce the specific candle process to you.

  • On a scale, measure the wax according to the size of the mold you are using (see measuring instructions above).
  • Fill the bottom of the double boiler with water until it is about halfway down the pouring kettle.
  • Put your wax in the upper pot of the double boiler on the stove. Because the melting point of paraffin wax is very high, so this is the easiest and fastest way to melt wax.
  • Insert a thermometer into the upper pot. You will find that the wax will start to melt around 62°C.
When the wax melts, prepare your mold (but be aware that the temperature is 95° and you need to add your fragrance and color). Lightly spray or wipe the inside of the mold with cooking oil. (If you find your candles come out easily and don’t stick to the mold, you can skip this step)
  • Insert the die pins into the holes in the bottom of the die. Once your candle is dry, the bottom of the mold becomes the top of the candle. insert photo
  • Because the mold wick pins are self-centering, just wrap a small piece of Blu-tack around the bottom of the wick pin and push it firmly into the bottom of the mold. This will stop any wax from leaking out of the holes in the mold.
  • Has your wax reached about 95°? If so, add your scent and color. With paraffin you can achieve bright, bold and deep colors without adversely affecting burn (as opposed to soy wax).
  • Let the wax cool to between 85-90°, then fill to the top of the mold and save the remaining wax for the second pour. As your candle cools, you will notice that it starts to sink deeply in the middle. do not panic! This is typical of paraffin wax.
  • After the candle has cooled completely, reheat the remaining wax, making sure it is 10% warmer than the first pour, between 95-100°. This will help minimize any connecting wires.
  •  Pour melted wax into the sink hole of the candle, filling it to the brim. Try not to pour too much, as you don’t want the wax to run down the inside of the mold. You can smooth the bottom of the candle on the hot plate later.
  • Make yourself a cup of tea, relax, and wait for the candle to cool (usually about 6 hours). Then, turn the mold over and press down firmly on the tips of the mold pins. Don’t be shy to use a fair amount of pressure to pull the pin out. It should slide right out, but if you find it difficult to remove, place the mold in the refrigerator for a few minutes to shrink further and release the wax.
At the end you will have a perfect candle.
