Some molten cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the small amount of aromatic hydrocarbons contained in paraffin wax are harmful to the human body. The aromatics in the molten ring must fall below the specified index before it can be used.

Some paraffin wax was analyzed with a mass spectrometer in the laboratory. The chemical composition data of each fraction divided by the number of carbon atoms in the molecule indicates that the fraction with the least number of carbon atoms in the molecule is n-alkane. And an increase in the number of carbon atoms increases the content of isoparaffins and cycloalkanes. The aromatic hydrocarbons in waxes only appear in high-carbon fractions. Therefore, under the same distillation conditions, the content of cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons melted in inferior waxes of common commercial paraffins is lower than that of high-quality waxes.
