Superplasticizer has a strong dispersion effect on cement, which can greatly improve the fluidity of cement mixture and slump of concrete, while greatly reducing the amount of water used, significantly improving the workability of concrete.

The superplasticizer can significantly reduce water consumption and significantly increase the strength of concrete at all ages. When the strength is kept constant, cement can be saved by 10% or more.

So a polycarboxylate superplasticizer, which presents excellent performances in slump retaining and water-reducing, can significantly improve the plasticity index of fresh concrete, and enhance the pumping and construction performance of concrete at the same time, and greatly increases concrete strength. It has wide applications in the engineering products where various concretes, such as normal concrete, pumping concrete, superfluid self-compacting and high strength and durability concrete, are needed.

Polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent has a wide range of applications. The superplasticizer can be used in making cast-in-place concrete, reinforced concrete and pre -stressed concrete for high speed railways, highways, commercial concrete stations, ports and piers, hydropower stations, etc.

In addition, the product is specifically designed for projects (nuclear power plants projects) which have higher requirements on transportation or construction period as well as slump retention.

The appearance of water-reducing agent is divided into liquid and powder; according to the water-reducing and water-increasing ability, it is divided into ordinary water-reducing agent, high-efficiency water-reducing agent and high-performance water-reducing agent.

So that the question is how much superplasticizer to add.

Different types of water-reducing agents have different blending amounts. There are ordinary water reducer and high efficiency water reducer, generally 1%~2%.

1. Water reducer is a concrete admixture that can reduce the water consumption of mixing under the condition of maintaining the slump of concrete.

2. After adding the concrete mixture, it has a dispersion effect on the cement particles, which can improve its workability, reduce the unit water consumption, improve the fluidity of the concrete mixture or reduce the unit cement dosage, and save cement.

The amount of superplasticizer is calculated according to the amount of cement. Therefore, the mix ratio should be determined first, that is, the amount of cement per square concrete should be determined to calculate the amount of superplasticizer more accurately.

In summary, compared with other raw materials, although the amount of superplasticizer is small, it is critical to the quality of concrete. Therefore, during the construction process, the amount of superplasticizer must be strictly controlled and its operation The process should be strictly implemented in accordance with relevant regulations to avoid accidents when configuring the amount of superplasticizer.

At the same time, because the superplasticizer is corrosive when it is configured, if it splashes on the skin, it will have a strong burning sensation, so the relevant personnel should also do their own protective work.

The chloride ion content in the superplasticizer is minimal, which does not cause corrosion to the steel bars. It can enhance the impermeability, freeze-thaw resistance and corrosion resistance of concrete, and improve the durability of concrete.

The application of concrete superplasticizer is becoming more and more extensive, so we must ensure the correct use of water reducer in the construction process and give full play to its benefits.

The polycarboxylic acid-based superplasticizer is a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing active carboxylic acid monomers under the action of an initiator. The characteristics of polycarboxylic acid superplasticizer:

(1) With low dosage (0.2~0.5%) and high dispersion performance, water reduction rate can reach 35~50% or even higher;

(2) Good slump retention, no loss of slump within 120min, can be used to prepare high-strength or ultra-high-strength concrete, such as C60, C80, C100 and C150, etc.

(3) Molecular structure, high degree of freedom, many parameters that can be controlled in additive manufacturing technology, and high potential for high performance;

(4) Since formaldehyde is not used in the synthesis, it does not cause pollution to the environment

(5) Good compatibility with cement and other types of concrete additives

In short, the use of high-efficiency water-reducing agent must be combined with the actual project, according to the engineering design requirements, using accurate raw materials for concrete trial test.

Through the above information, we have fully understood the polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, then how is it made? In fact, the main raw material of PCE superplasticizer is polyether monomer. PCE superplasticizer monomers mainly include HPEG series, TPEG series, modified TPEG and LPEG series.

The product of monomer is mainly used for manufacturing polycarboxylate superplasticizer, and the synthesized polycarboxylate superplasticizer has high performance in comprehensive properties and cost- saving.

The monomer is well soluble in water and presents good dispersion to cement and other powder materials. Moreover, as a water reducing agent it can save the amount of cement with a water reducing rate of over 30%. It can improve mortar strength. It is positioned to reduce water and improve strength without influencing concrete performance.

With water reducing agent added, the surface of cement particles forms an absorption film, which influences the cement hydration, promotes the growth of cement stone crystals, reduces the capillary void of water evaporation, and makes network structure denser and compact. Thus, the hardness and structural compactness of cement mortar are improved. The water reducing agent can disperse cement particles, improve cement workability and reduce water consumption, which further enhances cement compactness, hardness and fluidity.

While remaining raw materials proportion, water reducing agent can so greatly improve the concrete fluidity and plasticity that the concrete construction can be carried out in an environment of self-flow, pumping, vibration-free, which improves construction speed and energy consumption.
